STYLISH WAYS TO WEAR LEATHER

Physical shows for London Fashion Week may be off the cards this year thanks to Coronavirus. However, this doesn’t stop some key trends making their presence felt on the street and in the stores. A leather biker jacket is a fashion classic that’s for sure, but this season the tough textile is reimagined with everything from sexy skirts, tremendous trenches to boyish shirts.

We saw coloured leather be a highlight on the SS20 catwalks and as we step into Autumn the trend for leather – both faux and real – is still strong. The vibrant colours of SS20 are gone and replaced with deeper, richer tones for the cooler, darker months.

Let a single leather piece be the focus of your outfit, then pair with wardrobe basics like jeans, a plain roll neck or a simple black boot. Your look will stand out whether that’s the aim or not. In fact, you’ll likely emphasise the exquisiteness of a leather item by keeping the rest of your outfit simple.

Unless you are one of the fortunate few (yes, that’s all you Winters) that can wear black beneath their face, then you will need to consider other colours such as tan, plum, khaki or even metallics.

If it’s investment pieces you’re after there are some beautiful real leather options on the high street right now. While budget-conscious shoppers and vegans will love the ‘I can’t believe it’s not leather’ appeal of PU/faux leather fabrics. Long gone are the days of plasticky textures – you may be surprised at just how soft faux leather can feel.

So, whether you’re going for the real deal or faking it, here are some ways to style the leather trend along with some of my favourite pieces to buy now. You can shop through my blog by clicking the text below the images.
